Parviz Toosi, a dermatologist and hair specialist, said: a complication called Lyme disease is an inflammatory disorder on the surface of the skin, which is very rare and manifests itself in the form of thinning of the skin of the hands and feet.
He continued: The causes of Lyme disease is the infection of a type of bacteria called Borrelia burgdorferi, which is transmitted to humans by the bite of a type of tick. Symptoms of Lyme disease appear as small red bumps on the skin, armpits, groin, lower limbs, burning sensation, itching and pain. This disease usually resolves without treatment.
He stated: Redness on the skin will improve in 28 days. Other symptoms of Lyme disease include hives, conjunctivitis, facial redness, muscle discomfort, stroke, fatigue and sleepiness, weakness, headache, enlarged lymph nodes, anorexia, nausea and vomiting. These symptoms are very similar to the flu.
Tusi pointed out: Lyme complications include joint pain, congestive heart failure, brain damage, nerve swellings, facial paralysis, increased blood cell sedimentation rate, meningitis, impaired liver enzymes, and permanent joint deformity.
He admitted: 20 to 50 years old are more affected by Lyme disease. Medicines such as antibiotics, amoxicillin and penicillin can be used for treatment.
