An Easy Dairy-Free Ice Cream Recipe That You Can Eat Without Feeling Guilty

If you’ve ever wondered about an ice cream that doesn’t go straight to your waist, then this recipe is just the thing you need. This dairy-free ice cream recipe is made of 100% fruit, but tastes exactly like the real thing. It is so good, you’ll want to eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner (and technically, you could if you wanted to!).

This isn’t really ice cream, because it isn’t technically cream that has been iced, but it tastes just as good if not better. I like to call this Nice cream, because it is raw and vegan, cruelty-free, dairy-free, low-fat, and 100% delicious! If you haven’t yet read my article yet about why you should ditch dairy, then you can do so here.

Conventional ice cream made from dairy is highly mucus-causing, and mucus leads to a clogged digestive tract that shields our cilia from properly absorbing nutrients from food (and thus leading to issues like vitamin and mineral deficiencies or weight gain/loss). Ice cream made from dairy is also loaded with fat and refined sugar, which goes straight to your waistline! The opposite is true for this ice cream, however, and can actually help you shed weight by nourishing the cells in your body, and by helping you stay fuller, longer.

I used to love ice cream, but when I went vegan (and even further, raw vegan), my options kind of ran short (especially 6 years ago when options for vegan ice cream were few and far between). The first dairy-free ice cream I made was with frozen mango and raspberries and oh my gosh. Major tastebud explosions. From there on I started experimenting, and now that’s what brings me to this recipe.

You can really experiment with flavours, and different fruit, but this is one of my all-time favourites. All you need is a blender (I prefer a high-speed blender like the Vitamix or Blendtec) and a big bowl to put it in!

Ingredients:

– 3 ripe, frozen bananas
– 1 cup frozen blueberries or blackberries (or a combination)
– 1/2 cup coconut water (or filtered water)
– 3 pitted, medjool dates
– Optional: 1 tbsp. barley grass juice powder (extra minerals! You can’t even taste the green!)

Method:

Blend the ingredients in your blender until it becomes a frozen ice cream consistency. Put in a bowl, and sprinkle with coconut flakes. Enjoy!
