Sometimes a gentle detox smoothie is all you need to help rejuvenate the body.

A daily green smoothie, such as the one mentioned in this recipe, will give your body the nutrients it needs to keep your energy levels steady, your joints freely mobile and to keep water retention at bay.

Greens are a great way to help support the body’s detoxification system like the liver, kidneys and digestive tract. They help to alkalinize the body and therefore battle any inflammatory-related aches and pains.

This smoothie is also a powerful, all-natural diuretic, which means it will encourage urination and get rid of excess water retention that might be mistaken as excess weight you’re holding onto.

Gentle Detox Smoothie Recipe

This makes 1 serving size. I like drinking at least one green smoothie every day!

Ingredients:

– 2 cups ripe pineapple
– 1 granny smith apple, cored
– 1 lemon, peeled
– 2 stalks celery
– 2 cups packed leafy greens of choice
– 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

Method:

Stick all of the above ingredients in a blender, and blend for 30-60 seconds or until smooth.
