Complete information about sexual pain disorders
Painful intercourse or dyspareunia Dyspareunia is a persistent or recurring genital pain that occurs in a woman or a man during or before or after intercourse, which means that a person experiences pain during intercourse. This pain may occur when the male penis enters the vagina or at different stages during penetration. This state has different degrees and has different reasons and treatments for when and where a person feels pain after intercourse. This disorder is much more common in women than men and is related to vaginismus and is often seen together with it. Frequent episodes of vaginismus may lead to painful intercourse or vice versa. The pain is real and makes intercourse unpleasant or unbearable. Anticipating the next pain may make a person avoid intimacy forever, but in any case, organic causes should be ruled out. Painful intercourse is not diagnosed when the pain originates from an organ or when it occurs only due to vaginismus or lack of lubrication in women. The rate of occurrence of this disorder is not known, but it occurs temporarily in 30% of surgeries on the genital system.
