Dr. Fethullah Shafizadeh said: Diarrhea and vomiting (gastroenteritis) is one of the most important infections of the digestive tract of children, which is caused by various causes, including enteropathogens such as viruses, bacterial agents, and parasitoid agents. did

He continued: Watery diarrhea, bloody or chronic diarrhea, fever, nausea and vomiting, drowsiness, irritability, malnutrition, skin and eye symptoms, abdominal pain and decreased urine output are symptoms of diarrheal diseases.

This pediatrician said: Gastroenteritis can be considered one of the killers of children in the world. In such a way that every year between 3 and 5 million children around the world die due to this disease.

He added: the child’s young age, immunodeficiency or allergy to milk and food, lack of breastfeeding, malnutrition, adverse economic and social conditions of the family, measles and food poisoning are among the underlying factors of diarrhea and vomiting. Diarrhea and vomiting in children are divided into two categories: acute (less than two weeks) and chronic (more than two weeks).

He added: The most important treatment solution for this disease is the supply of water and vital minerals, and depending on the severity of the disease, appropriate decisions such as hospitalization of the child, serum injection or other appropriate prescriptions can be life-saving.

This pediatric specialist stated that home treatments such as drinking soft drinks, soup, tea, juice and such topics are not very effective and are harmful due to high osmolarity, adding: In general, the treatment can be done with simple foods containing carbohydrates such as rice glaze, kate And yogurt, oral serum (ORS) and other measures started.

Shafizadeh said: Depending on the severity of the disease, oral serum (ORS) can be prescribed between 50 and 100 cc for each kilogram of weight in the first four hours.

He added: the next measures such as prescribing antibiotics and special diets will be done by the doctor. Also, the prescription of drugs such as diphenoxylate and loperamide is prescribed depending on the doctor’s order.

This pediatric specialist added: frequent hand washing after contact with the patient, use of gloves in case of possible pus and infection, refraining from arbitrarily taking medicines, especially antibiotics, refraining from consuming unboiled milk and observing hygiene standards in the prevention of infectious diseases and system infections. Digestion is effective.
