Condom and its different types
Condom is a means of preventing pregnancy, we want to give explanations about the types of condoms and how to use each one in this article, what are the benefits of using this device and what are its advantages over other methods of preventing pregnancy.
As a contraceptive device, condom blocks the passage of infections during sexual intercourse, and it is also one of the methods of preventing pregnancy that prevents sperms from reaching the uterus.
A condom is a soft plastic cover that has great elasticity and is used by a man during sexual intercourse in such a way that it is stretched over the penis in an erect state before intercourse, thus preventing the shedding of semen that contains sperm. male sex cells) is prevented from entering the female reproductive system (vagina and uterus). If a man’s sperm combines with an egg (female sex cell), pregnancy occurs, and condoms prevent this. There are many types of condom models in terms of size, shape and material, but you should be careful when buying condoms.
Getting to know the types of condoms:
There are two types of condoms: male condoms and female condoms. The types of condoms are not the same and are different in terms of size, thickness, presence of spermicide or softening material (lubricant), and some condoms do not have spermicide.
Condoms containing spermicide are more effective than condoms without spermicide. Lubricants used in condoms should be water-based, not oil-based, otherwise they may damage the latex of the condom and cause the condom to tear.
All kinds of condoms are made in different colors and designs and packed in small packages. 50 million men in the world use all kinds of male condoms, and the most countries that use condoms to prevent pregnancy is Japan. If the condom is used correctly, the percentage of failure is 3%, but if it is not used carefully, it may fail up to 14%. But on average, the failure rate of condoms is 10%.
Of course, it should be noted that in most contraceptive methods, the failure rate is higher in the first year of use.
Teaching how to use a condom:
Each package of condoms should be opened at the same time it is to be used, and before use, the condom should be checked to make sure there are no holes or tears. When using, you should be careful not to tear or puncture the condom due to contact with the nail.
Since there is some sperm in the secretions of the man before ejaculation, the condom should be pulled over the penis before intercourse, and if the condom is used only during ejaculation, there is a possibility of pregnancy.
When using a condom, the empty space at the end should be pressed to release the air, then the condom should be pulled over the penis in such a way that this small empty space remains at the end so that the semen collects in this space during ejaculation and prevents it from spilling. Prevent it from entering the female reproductive system. Therefore, its tip should not be stretched to the end.
The condom should cover the entire length of the penis up to its base. This prevents semen from leaking into the female reproductive system. If you feel a tear or a hole during intercourse, you should immediately remove the penis along with the condom and use a new condom.
Immediately after ejaculation, while the penis is still being replaced, it should be removed from the female reproductive system along with the condom on it. In order to prevent the condom from slipping, the withdrawal should be done while holding the condom on the penis.
After removing the condom, it should be filled with water to ensure that the condom is not punctured. And if the condom is punctured or torn, emergency contraception should be used.
Latex sensitivity: For sensitive people, there are hypoallergenic condoms made of synthetic thermoplastic elastomer and another type made of polyurethane, both of which protect against STDs. The latter has a much higher chance of tearing than latex (4.8% vs. 2.3%). Condoms made from natural membranes such as calf intestines do not protect against STDs.
Important points to keep in mind when using condoms:
* Keep condoms away from heat, light and humidity so that the latex does not lose its properties and does not tear with closeness.
* Use each condom once and avoid using it again because in this case the possibility of pregnancy increases.
* Before using condoms, pay attention to their expiration date and avoid using expired condoms or condoms that are sticky or fragile.
* After using the used condom, wrap it in a piece of waste paper and throw it in a garbage bag.
* Do not use oil, vaseline or similar substances to soften the condom because these substances will damage the condom and cause it to break. In this case, the probability of pregnancy increases with a condom.
* Although this method of preventing pregnancy is an effective method, the probability of pregnancy with it is higher than with pills.
