Familiarity with foot diseases
Do you know about different foot problems? Foot itching, foot skin discoloration, clubbed toe, big toe pain, severe pain attacks in the big toe joint, scaling between the toes are among the various foot diseases. Learn about foot care methods.
– Peeling between the toes
Fungal infections are the most common cause of itchy and scaly toes and often occur in people who wear tight shoes and sweat a lot. While athlete’s foot is contagious, it can be easily treated with antifungal medications. In some cases, itchy feet may be caused by an allergic reaction to worms or an immune disorder such as psoriasis.
2- Change in the color of the skin of the feet
When suffering from skin acne or fungal infections, the skin becomes red and scaly, and in Raynaud’s disease, there is a sequence of skin discoloration in response to cold or stress. The affected area may begin to feel cold and numb, eventually restricting blood flow. Sometimes as circulation improves, the skin may turn red before returning to normal, which may be an early sign of a more serious condition such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus.
3- Clubbed toe
Club toes include changes in the area around the foot and in the toe or toenail. Common symptoms of clubbing include softening of the nail bed, protruding toenails, and bending of the nails in the form of a sharp angle. A significant majority of cases of clubbing are caused by heart and lung diseases that reduce the level of oxygen in the blood.
4- Burning in the leg
The sensation of burning in the feet can be mild (numbness and tingling) or severe (severe pain that can even disturb sleep). Severe burning in the feet can be a sign of nerve damage caused by diabetes or circulatory diseases. It is called peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Resting and elevating your legs can help reduce symptoms. In addition, bathing and putting your foot in cold water can also reduce the pain and burning sensation. In case of repeated burning sensation, be sure to see a doctor.
5- Big toe pain
Attacks of severe pain in the big toe joint can indicate a complicated form of arthritis such as gout. Symptoms of gout include severe joint pain after a long period of discomfort, often occurring at night without any warning. Another explanation could be rheumatoid arthritis, which tends to affect the foot and finger joints as early symptoms.
