This mango lime smoothie is a serious multi-tasker. It not only tastes delicious, but it does some incredible work inside the body, too.
Polyphenolics contained in mango have powerful anti-cancer activity (specifically the Haden and Ataulfo varieties). Tests on colon cancer cells have found inhibition of cancer cell growth by up to 72% with Ataulfo mango extracts.
Plant stanol esters (such as those in the mango and bananas) are also very efficient in reducing LDL (“bad”) cholesterol. This, combined with the fact that mangoes help reduce inflammation and help moderate, and even lower blood sugar levels, make this smoothie a perfect fit for those suffering from type II diabetes.
Mango Lime Smoothie Recipe
Ingredients:
– 2 cups chopped mango (I like ataulfo (the smaller yellow ones), but use whatever you have on hand)
– 1 ripe banana

– 1 cup fresh coconut water or filtered water
– Optional: 1 inch fresh ginger root and 1 inch fresh turmeric root
Method:
Stick all of the above ingredients in a blender and blend for 30-60 seconds or until smooth. Enjoy!
