I was recently given the opportunity to review the Froothie Optimum G2.1 Platinum Series Vortex blender! Since I live with my sister, I always just used her Vitamix, but since receiving the Optimum G2.1, I’ve used it quite literally, every single day.
The Optimum G2.1 has become, without a doubt, the most popular gadget in my kitchen. Living as a high-raw, plant-based vegan, I need a high-speed blender – and Froothie goes beyond power when it comes to their blenders. I can make raw soups, banana “nice-cream,” raw nut butters (like almond butter or even sunflower seed butter!), and best of all, smoothies (which I practically live off in the mornings). I know without a doubt that this blender is going to get some serious use out of it!
Because I was so familiar with the Vitamix, using this blender was a good comparison point, and it really proved itself well. After all, the Optimum has a motor that is 2,835 watts. This, compared to the Vitamix, which has a motor of only 1,492 Watts. When I say powerful, I mean it!
I also really like the fact that the Optimum high speed blender comes with digital paneling and SIX pre-programmed settings (like fruit (smoothie), sorbet, grind, nut milk, soup and sauces). Of course, you can use the blender for basically anything you want to blend, even outside of these settings. This is because you can either hold down the pulse button, or set a speed and time you want to blend something at, and then let it work its magic.
The Froothie Optimum G2.1 blender is beautiful, too. It is sleek and shiny, and fits well aesthetically in just about any kitchen (to be honest, it made my kitchen look like it needed a renovation). Another plus about the Optimum blender is that it’s made from super light BPA-free plastic. This makes it easy to lift off the base, and also quite simple to rinse. The jug itself comes with a 6-blade assembly (compared to Vitamix’s 4-blade assembly). The two extra blades are situated under the main 4 blades, and allow the Optimum blender to suck ingredients down and create a blending vortex!
Using The Tamper
The tamper itself is quite easy to use, and is recommended for thicker mixtures you might 
be blending like fruit ice creams, nut butters, or thick sauces. The tamper basically helps improve the flow of food if the ingredients aren’t freely circulating. To use it, all you need to do is stick the lid firmly in place, and insert the tamper through the lid plug opening. While the machine is operating, and blending, you situate the tamper in one of the corners of the jug – this will propel the food straight onto the blades and help release any air pockets around the blade. This ensures a continuous flow of food through the blades, so that whatever you’re blending becomes creamy soft!
Cleaning The Blender
Cleaning the vortex blender is easy, too. If you’re making juices or smoothies, all you really need is a quick rinse. If you’re making something a little more advanced like soups, dips or nut butters, rinse out the jug, and then fill halfway with warm water. Add in a little bit of your favourite dish soap (literally, just one drop!), and then turn the appliance on high speed for about 30-60 seconds. Rinse and then dry. That’s it!
