Know the types of spots on the skin
Spots on the skin are divided into several general groups: spots after skin inflammation, freckles, moles, age-related spots, pregnancy spots, etc., each of which has a specific shape and treatment characteristics.
Skin color is determined based on the amount of pigment that we usually see four to five groups of skin color in different races, from the very light skin of the European race to the dark skin of the blacks. But if we want to place the Iranian skin in one of these groups, the group 2 and 3 are placed in this category as light green and dark green respectively.
According to Dr. Salam medical magazine, Dr. Mojtaba Amiri, a dermatologist and hair specialist, wrote in the apple supplement of Jam Jam newspaper: The natural skin color of every human being is usually uniform. But different diseases make some areas of the skin darker or darker than other parts of the skin. In this topic, we will focus more on bold spots.
There are different types of hyperpigmented spots in terms of classification. Some are present from birth and their diameter ranges from millimeters to several centimeters.
Sometimes they are acquired, that is, they appear on the skin over time, which we mention:
Spots after the occurrence of skin inflammations: There are spots that when inflammation occurs in the skin, the skin becomes dark as a reflex. Its most severe condition is after acne; That is, when a pimple disappears, the pimple area remains as a spot on the skin for a long time. Spots after laser or mild burns, after insect bites, allergy to a drug or plant, and after eczema inflammations are other spots caused by inflammation, which are considered temporary spots. But the intensity of each spot depends on the color of the skin, the lighter the skin, the fainter and more fleeting the spots, and the darker the skin, the bolder and longer they stay on the skin. The basis of treatment is the early identification of the type of stain by the doctor in order to prevent the appearance of new stains.
Pregnancy mask: This type of mask is in the form of a butterfly-shaped darkening, which is very common in women during pregnancy and darkens the central part of the face, forehead and back of the lips. Of course, it can rarely be seen in men. Asian women are more affected by this type of spots. There are two types of melasma or pregnancy mask: superficial and deep.
The superficial type is limited to the epidermis and responds well to drug treatments. In the deep type, skin pigments accumulate in the deep part, and it is natural that it does not respond well to treatment (to remove deep spots, lightening creams or exfoliating creams should be used). Melasma is caused by the estrogen hormone during pregnancy or birth control pills. These spots intensify with sunlight and there is a possibility of recurrence even after treatment.
Freckles: These spots are seen in people with light skin and genetic background. Sunlight is the main cause of freckles. It is usually seen in the upper parts of the body, such as the skin of the face and hands, which are more exposed to direct sunlight. In autumn and winter, when the intensity of sunlight is weaker, it becomes fainter and in spring and summer, it becomes brighter. Freckles fade with medication, but come back with every sun exposure.
The best treatment for freckles and freckles is to use a laser, but everyone should always take care after the laser to prevent the spots from returning, because these skins are very susceptible and these spots may recur.
Moles: Moles also appear as darker spots on the skin. Some moles, which tend to be blue, are a little more difficult to treat and can even be seen on the face and around the eyes. In these cases, drug treatment is not helpful, but laser therapy is also useful frequently. In any case, it is possible to remove moles.
Age-related spots: It is commonly believed that liver diseases cause these spots in old or middle-aged people, but this is not the case. Age spots are the result of too much exposure to the sun, and those who have had constant exposure to the sun in the past are more likely to develop these spots. As you get older, it becomes bolder and its treatment is also laser.
Stains are not dangerous
Spots are usually not worrisome, they just change the shape and appearance of the skin. Although some skin cancers first appear as a spot, these become prominent and change shape over time, while the spot is not abnormally shaped.
