Dangerous signs of trachoma in the eyes

The director of the eye health and prevention of blindness program of the Ministry of Health, referring to the outbreak of trachoma disease on the common border of Zabul with Afghanistan, said: with the cooperation of the University of Medical Sciences of the said region, the necessary interventions will be made immediately.
Announcing this news, Dr. Farzad Mohammadi added: We recently found out that the cases of trachoma disease have increased beyond the control limit in the common border strip of Zabul with Afghanistan. For this reason, together with Zabul University of Medical Sciences, we are going to analyze the situation of the region.
The director of the eye health and prevention of blindness program of the Ministry of Health stated: According to surveys conducted in the last 15 years, Iran has been in the phase of eradicating trachoma, but at the same time, it seems that the rate of trachoma in the region is The reason for transboundary pollution has occurred; That’s why we need to intervene faster.
While stating that examining the situation in the region and quick intervention is the priority of the Ministry of Health and the University of Medical Sciences of the said region, he added: Negotiations with active international non-governmental associations for the free supply of medicines for this disease are also on our agenda.
Trachoma is a type of chronic eye infection that causes inflammation and discharge of pus in the eye. The prolongation of trachoma disease and delay in its treatment are among the factors that lead to the loss of a part of a person’s vision to complete blindness. Trachoma is the most common cause of eye blindness due to infection, especially in underdeveloped societies.
