Seeing blood after intercourse
How does bleeding after sexual intercourse occur? What problems does this condition cause in the uterus?
Bleeding after sex is called genital bleeding and is a symptom that should never be ignored because it can be a warning sign of one or more serious problems.
Diseases that can cause bleeding after sex include:
1- Dysplasia of the cervix
Cervical dysplasia is a pre-cancerous change in the cells of the uterine mucosa, during which tissues grow abnormally. The risk of contracting this disorder usually increases in the following ways: having multiple sexual partners, having sex before the age of 18, giving birth before the age of 16, having a sexually transmitted disease before. For treatment, surgery is generally recommended to remove the target mass.
2- Chlamydia
It is a type of bacterial infection that is generally transmitted through sexual activity, the contact of contaminated semen with vaginal fluids or blood.
3- Gonorrhea
It is a disease with a high infection rate, which is usually transmitted through sexual contact and is caused by a certain type of bacteria. There are various drugs to treat it.
4- Swelling of the uterus
Inflammation and swelling with uterine or vaginal infection. Treatment depends on the cause of the disease.
5- Cervical polyp
It is attributed to the excessive growth of the uterine mucus, which has a soft state, and a red or purple color. These types of fleshy appendages grow outside the mucous membrane of the uterus and the uterine canal. Uterine polyps are very sensitive, as mentioned, they grow outside the uterus and are easily and painlessly removed.
6- Trichomonas
This type of disease is infection with single-celled parasites, which especially cause vaginal abscess in women. The above disorder is transmitted through sexual intercourse and the cause of it is a type of protozoan cells. It should be noted that there is a possibility of transmission of the disease during natural childbirth through an infected mother to the baby. In rare cases, it has been seen that the disease spreads through the water inside the bathtub, urine, toilet, and swimming pools.
7- Vaginal fungal infection
Overgrowth of natural fungi that exist in the vaginal area leads to fungal infection. Other symptoms include itching, burning, and odorless, white, cheesy discharge.
8- Endometriosis and adenoma
Endometriosis is defined in the “Derland” medical dictionary, 27th edition as follows: swelling of the inner membrane of the uterus (the innermost inner membrane of the uterus), which in some cases is accompanied by the sinking of the endometrial layer into the myometrium (muscular tissue of the uterus). Adenoma refers to the replacement of uterine endometrium in a place other than the uterine cavity. In such a way that the endometriosis membrane sticks to the uterus or other organs such as the ovary and causes the misplaced tissues inside the uterus.
9- Uterine polyp
Uterine polyps are created when the inner membrane of the uterus grows abnormally and causes a bulge in the uterus. It rarely happens that the growth of these types of polyps reaches a benign or malignant stage. Also, women who suffer from this disorder rarely experience abnormal uterine bleeding between two menstrual cycles. Other symptoms include: bleeding after sex, spotting, excessive bleeding during menstruation, bleeding after menopause, and bleeding during hormone therapy. The best method of treatment is hysteroscopic treatment. With this method, the entire uterine cavity can be seen through the hysteroscope, and it has more advantages than the DC treatment method (therapeutic diagnostic curettage), because the second method is associated with the scraping of the uterine tissue, and it is possible that many polyps are left behind. become
10- Fibroid glands
Uterine fibroid glands are considered benign tumors and usually consist of solid pieces with fibrous tissues. Rarely, fibroid glands turn into malignant tumors. The symptoms of this disorder are different in women and some women do not feel any symptoms at all. If they can wait until menopause, over time the fibroids become smaller and gradually disappear altogether due to the cessation of estrogen secretion. Women who have fibroids should be careful to never take estrogen in any form, even in the form of birth control pills; Because estrogen causes abnormal growth of fibroid glands. There are various treatments to remove these glands, from mymectomy (removal of the uterine muscle) to uterine artery embolization (blocking the arteries) or the old hysterectomy, which involves surgery to remove all or part of the uterus.
Proper diagnosis of the cause of bleeding after sexual intercourse requires expertise. For this reason, whenever you notice such a problem, be sure to contact a specialist doctor.
