Is fasting beneficial or harmful for people with fatty liver disease? How much can it affect fatty liver disease? Is it therapeutic for these people or not?
Dr. Mohammad Jaafar Farosh said about the measures of fasting in patients with liver diseases: Those patients with liver diseases, including fatty liver, who have high liver enzymes and are also suffering from inflammation, are not allowed to fast.
He added: But those other patients whose liver enzymes are low can fast, and on the other hand, fasting is useful for them, but they should remember to consume food in an amount that they do not consume too many calories during the Iftar meal.
This gastroenterology and liver superspecialist stated that patients with fatty liver experience weight gain and reduced mobility and said: these patients are advised to avoid consuming fatty foods, prepared foods, fast food, soft drinks and Strictly avoid aerated buttermilk and sweet foods, because consuming these foods can cause them to gain weight.
In another part of his speech, Farosh reminded: Patients with fatty liver who are able to fast are advised to pay attention to their weight loss during these days and to walk and exercise two hours after eating iftar.
