Consequences of frequent red meat consumption
Red meat can provide a lot of vitamins and proteins to your body, but excessive consumption of it can be very dangerous and problematic. Try to consume other meats as well.
Atefeh Naderi said: Red meat is one of the most important sources of protein and B12, but excessive consumption is not recommended for people.
He stated that consuming red meat increases the body’s metabolism and emphasized: This puts a lot of pressure on the kidneys and liver to eliminate waste materials.
The nutrition expert of Imam Khomeini Hospital (RA) in Kermanshah Province emphasized: Also, the high consumption of red meat increases urea, fat and bad blood cholesterol (LDL).
Pointing out that some people completely eliminate the consumption of red meat, Naderi emphasized: this does not cause much problem, but the body should be supplied with alternative methods of protein, calcium and B12.
He reminded: People who eliminate red meat should consume 200 to 300 grams of chicken or fish for every 100 grams of red meat, plus two glasses of milk or yogurt and B12 supplement.
According to this nutrition expert, consuming white meat such as chicken and fish is a good alternative to red meat, and in addition, due to the presence of omega-3, fish has very beneficial properties both for the immune system and for preventing cancer.
Pointing out that it is not possible to prescribe an exact amount of chicken and fish for all people, Naderi continued: the need for different types of meat depends on the conditions and weight of people.
He pointed out: In any case, it can be said that almost all people need to consume animal proteins two to three times a week.
