Khalil Sedaghat Piseh, a skin and hair specialist, in an interview with the reporter of the medical field of the Young Journalists Club; He stated: Scabies is a parasitic skin disease that is transmitted through skin contact or wearing the clothes of a person suffering from this disease.
He listed severe skin itching that worsens at night as one of the common symptoms of scabies and added: Cold environmental conditions also cause the itching to disappear by stopping the movement of parasites. Also, the symptoms of this disease appear 10 to 14 days after Contact with an infected person is observed.
This skin and hair specialist stated: In adults, itching affects all parts of the body except the head and face
but in children, there is also a possibility of symptoms of scabies on the face. Another symptom of this disease is the observation of bumps on the lower limbs.
Sadaqat Pisheh expressed: Scabies disease occurs due to pollution and not observing personal hygiene, so in order to prevent the recurrence of this disease, all the clothes and sheets of the affected person should be washed in high temperature water.
He stated that the treatment of scabies is easily done after a definitive diagnosis; He reminded: In order to cure this disease in adults, all parts of the body should be smeared with ointment or solution of lindane or benzyl benzoate and then wash the skin with water after a few hours.
Sedaghat Pishe stated: Scabies can occur at any age, and there is no difference between males and females in terms of the prevalence of this disease. It should be noted that the use of compounds such as lindane or benzyl benzoate can cause seizures in children. Therefore, it is recommended to use combined medicines containing sulfur and vaseline.
