Thyme, which is a short and branched shrub with thin and opposite leaves, has many medicinal uses in the traditional medicine of Iran and Europe, and until now it was used in a variety of ways in the food, pharmaceutical, health and cosmetic industries, but in the past year, many researches on This plant showed that thyme can have a great effect in the treatment of acne, that is, it can solve most of the problems of young people and teenagers so that they are no longer bothered by pimples and ugly acne.

Based on the latest research project conducted at the Metropolitan University of Leeds, England, and presented at the Spring 2012 conference of the European Society of Microbiology in Dublin, the role of thyme in the treatment of inflammatory acne lesions was investigated.

Dr. Margarita Gomes, who is in charge of this research project, explained: In this study, thyme and marigold were put in alcohol to prepare a tincture, then the prepared tincture was applied for 5 minutes on acne lesions, i.e. inflammatory lesions. He has placed both whiteheads and blackheads.

This study was compared with the standard methods of acne treatment, such as benzoyl peroxide, in accordance with scientific principles, and it was found that the rate of response to treatment in this group was better than standard treatments, and on the other hand, due to the less side effects of treatment with it, such as burning and local sensitivity. Treatment tolerance has been better for these patients.

Acne is mostly caused by a bacterium called Propionibacterium. This bacteria infects the pores of the skin and as a result it becomes a pimple. Currently, antibiotics, topical creams and chemical benzoyl peroxide are used to treat acne, and as you know, these drugs are associated with many side effects, for example, it causes Burning and inflammation occurs on the skin, it may also weaken the body’s immune system, there is even a possibility that over time the bacteria will become resistant to the said antibiotic.

But the solution containing thyme of this drug can eliminate acne bacteria better than creams and chemical solutions.

Chop the thyme leaves with a knife and then put them in a sealed jar; The glass should be half filled with thyme leaves. Then you should pour apple cider vinegar on the thymes so that the thymes are about 2 cm away from the bottom of the jar. Press the thymes with a spoon several times until they are completely immersed in the vinegar. Finally, close the jar and put it in a dark and cool place for about 2 weeks; Remember to go to the glass every 2 days and shake it. After 2 weeks, separate the thymes from the liquid with a strainer and then mix some of it with aloe vera juice in a ratio of 2 to 1 and mix well. Now your toner is ready; First, try some of it on a small part of the skin of the face, wait a few hours to see if you are allergic or not; If you are not allergic, you can apply it daily with a cotton to all parts of the skin.

If you have sensitive skin

Put 20 grams of thyme leaves in a glass container and add 30 ml of olive oil to it. Let it stay for three days. Then pass it through a fine sieve and press the remaining leaves well to extract their juice. Mix this solution with 20 ml of avocado oil and then add 100 grams of Oserin and mix well. Thyme is soothing and its mild and pleasant aroma soothes sensitive skin. Other oils in thyme, such as thymol, nourish and protect the skin.
