The need for protein intake for dialysis patients

Protein intake is more necessary for patients who are on dialysis than other people. Therefore, it is necessary for people who are on dialysis to consume more protein. Dr. Hassan Ganjizadeh Zavareh stated about this: The effect of this restriction on reducing cardiovascular complications and maintaining renal function remains unknown.

He went on to say that it has not yet been determined whether a low-protein diet can be added to other cases of strict control of blood pressure and blood sugar.

“In people with kidney disease from diabetes, protein should normally make up 10 to 25 percent of your total calorie intake,” he said.

Ganjizadeh reminded: the patient should be encouraged to eat lean meat, fish, eggs, legumes, soy, peas and nuts (nuts) and replace these substances with red meat.

“In patients with kidney disease due to diabetes but not on dialysis, the amount of protein consumed should be 0.8g / kg per day,” he said.

“Patients on dialysis should consume more protein,” said the endocrinologist.
