Burdock root is one of my all-time favourite healing herbs. It has been used for centuries as a way to purify blood and neutralize and eliminate poisons from the body. Fresh burdock juice in particular is incredibly high in vitamins and minerals, and in its raw form provides the body with even more body-healing effects.
Burdock contains a volatile oil that literally pulls toxins from our cells and then holds onto it while we sweat it out. So these toxins are eliminated through sweat glands, helping eliminate stubborn skin problems (i.e., acne, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, and extremely dry, irritated skin). Burdock is also high in niacin, which is known to help eliminate poisons from the body like radiation.
This special root also supports the bladder, kidney and liver.
In Healing with Whole Foods Paul Pitchford writes, “(Burdock) is a virtual cure-all for conditions of excess, and significantly purifies the blood while reducing fat and regulating blood sugar.” (1)
This recipe serves 1, and burdock root can be found in health food stores or Asian food stores. It looks like long wooden sticks – a quick google search will give you an idea of what it looks like! See below for reference:
