This Pineapple Turmeric Smoothie Reverses Cancer-Causing Inflammation and Prevents the Common Cold

You won’t regret trying this pineapple turmeric smoothie. It’s a nutritional powerhouse, loaded with inflammation-busting phytonutrients that help fight cancer and the common cold.

Pineapple, turmeric, ginger and orange, all contain anti-inflammatory and anti-tumour properties. Mixing them together creates a powerful combo that heals the body from the inside out. It will help rejuvenate, revitalize, increase energy levels, too!

Pineapple

Research published in the journal Planta Medica, found that the chemotherapy drug, 5-fluorauracil, was incredibly inferior to bromelain when treating cancer in an animal study. Those treated with bromelain survived 263% times more than those treated with 5-fluorauracil, relative to the untreated control. Bromelain caused no external harm to the animals, other than improving their health.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a great herb for treating cancers, particularly breast and uterine cancers as well as benign tumours. Many promising studies have shown turmeric’s anti-cancer properties to be helping in treating other cancers like skin, pancreatic, prostate and colon cancers too. One of the cancer-fighting mechanisms in turmeric involves inhibiting the activity of the enzyme Topoisomerase which is essential in the replication of cancer cells. Thus, turmeric limits the ability of cancer cells to spread to other parts of the body and prevents cancerous tumours from growing new blood vessels, starving them of nutrients and inhibiting their growth.

Ginger

The active ingredient in ginger, [6]-gingerol, is an anti-inflammatory that inhibits the effects of NF-kB (a factor in ovarian cancer cell growth that may contribute towards increased transcription and translation of angiogenic factors). Researchers found that treating cultured ovarian cancer cels with ginger resulted in NF-kB inactivation in addition to decreased secretion of VEGF and IL-8 (factors involved in tumour cell proliferation and angiogenesis). These results suggest that ginger effectively inhibits growth and secretion of angiogenic factors in ovarian cancer cells and may have the ability to treat and prevent ovarian cancer.

Orange

Studies have shown cancer-risk reductions of over 40-50% in individuals who consumed citrus fruits! Oranges contain limonoids, which help fight cancers of the mouth, skin, lung, breast, stomach and colon. These little guys hang around for a long time in the body (up to 24 hours!), which explains why they are such potent anti-carcinogens that help prevent cancerous cells from proliferating.

The antioxidant load in this pineapple turmeric smoothie also helps battle the common cold. The antioxidants will be able to scavenge bacteria and viruses quickly and efficiently, before getting you sick (or helping you get un-sick if you already are!).
