Ditch the coffee – this rejuvenating morning detox smoothie is all you need to help feel a natural high and perform your day like no other! It is packed with a variety of sunshine-inspired detox fruits that help awaken the mind, body and soul.

Mango and pineapple contain beneficial enzymes and plenty of fibre that help improve nutrient absorption and keep the colon clean. A clean colon means reduced toxic build-up in the intestines that would normally get re-absorbed back into the blood stream and make us feel tired, slow, sluggish and even sick.

Pineapple also contains the enzyme bromelain, and turmeric the compound curcumin, both of which help reduce inflammation and provide relief from aches and pain. I have also included lemon in this recipe, because it is a natural energizer and hydrates and oxygenates the body, making it a perfect morning fruit. It also helps purify the blood and aids in weight loss by improving fat metabolism.

Rejuvenating Morning Detox Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:

– 2 cups ripe mango, chopped
– 2 cups ripe pineapple, chopped (about 1 small pineapple)
– 1 lemon, juiced
– 2 inches fresh ginger root
– 1 inch fresh turmeric root
– 1 organic golden delicious apple
– Optional: 1 ripe banana (only if your stomach is okay with digesting sweet and acid fruits together)

Method:

Blend all of the above ingredients together in a high-speed blender like the Vitamix and enjoy!
