When does hepatitis C occur?

Hepatitis C virus, which causes problems for the human liver, is a mysterious and silent disease that sometimes may have a long and hidden period and emerge in the long term and cause serious damage to people’s liver.

Salamat Online – The head of Iran’s Hepatitis Network said: Contrary to popular belief, the symptoms of hepatitis C are slow and the patients will not have any problems in the short term. In some studies, it is shown that until 20 years after being infected with hepatitis C, special disability does not appear in people.

According to online health report, while explaining how chronic hepatitis occurs, Dr. Seyedmoyed Alavian said: We must know that chronic hepatitis is an insidious and silent disease and in most patients it progresses without any physical symptoms and at a very low speed. Two decades of liver sampling determines the state of inflammation and severity of damage.

He said: Most of the people suffering from hepatitis, after being diagnosed with this disease, say that they do not believe that they have hepatitis. It should be noted that when a person is told that he is infected with a virus like “C”, he first feels unwell and tells himself why he is infected with hepatitis “C” and what will be the outcome. Therefore, it is recommended that patients seriously consult a specialist in this field after learning about this disease.

He stated that in most cases, the disease progresses slowly in hepatitis patients and 20 to 30 percent of them develop cirrhosis (or sluggish liver), and added: This condition also lasts for 20 to 30 years. Fortunately, we now have relatively immediate treatments for these patients and new drugs are on the way.

Alaviyan went on to provide explanations about chronic hepatitis and said: In cases where the hepatitis C virus is present in the body of the affected person for more than six months and the liver damage occurs through the increase of liver enzymes and with a positive PC-C test. If R is determined, this condition is called chronic hepatitis. In this case, liver damage has progressed and in the long term, there is a possibility of liver laziness.

The head of Iran’s national hepatitis network stated that several studies have been conducted on patients with hepatitis C infection to determine the course of the disease, adding: Contrary to popular belief, the symptoms of the course of the disease are slow and the patients will not have any problems in the short term. In some studies, it is shown that until 20 years after being infected with hepatitis C, special disability does not appear in people. Of course, individual factors such as the age of the patient, the person’s gender (male or female), the route of infection, simultaneous use of alcohol, etc. are important in determining the severity of the disease.

Alavian also stated: The type of virus is also an important factor in the severity of hepatitis C disease. Unfortunately, in 85% of infected people, the immune system is not able to remove the virus within six months, and as a result, their disease becomes chronic. The virus is present in the blood of these people permanently and only its amount changes intermittently. We should know that chronic hepatitis is an insidious and silent disease and progresses in most patients without any physical signs and symptoms and at a very low speed, and during two decades of liver sampling, it determines the state of inflammation and the severity of the damage.
